Whatsapp backing up status: Whatsapp has planned to bring out a change because of storage restrictions caused by application backups. Whatsapp stores backed-up data of users in google drive along with the device’s local storage.
Till now the company is saving the backup of the status on Google drive and phone storage. Now the instant messaging application has stopped backups for status updates in the beta update version.
In a report by WABetaInfo(A website that tracks the new updated features on the platform’s beta versions. It is stated that Whatsapp’s latest updated version Android beta 2.21.13.6 does not allow to upload of the backups of status updates.
According to the stats, WhatsApp took this decision because of storage restrictions caused by heavy backups on local drive users, as google drive gives unlimited cloud storage for WhatsApp backups.
As there are so many users who post so many videos on status which increases the space occupied for backups. Allowing stopping backing up the status update to the users is going to save a lot of storage and data.
The fast messaging platform has started working on the project to exclude the status update from backing up on Apple iOS devices which will save a lot of space in the iCloud.
Whatsapp backing up status, Whatsapp also shared a lot of information officially about the most asked features such as multiple device support to an account, a disappearing mode, and a fixed and updated version of WhatsApp for the Apple iPad.
The multiple device feature will introduce support and access to use the account in four separate devices and that too without the need for the primary device to be switched on or plugged into the internet.
Till now the users can use multiple device features with the help of Whatsapp Web on a different device. In which the first party device has to be connected to the internet for the whole time. The app is also working on disappearing mode too.
It allows all the messages to get disappeared in a stipulated period when the mode is turned on. In the current version of disappearing mode, one has to apply this feature individually.
Whatsapp will also bring a feature similar to Snapchat’s “View Once feature” which clearly defines the message and the media will be viewed only once. All these features are confirmed by Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp CEO, Will Cathcart. The new features are going to be released in the upcoming months.
