Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger are now back up after a global outage that lasted for more than six hours.
The three social media services have been out of commission since yesterday afternoon, with users being unable to access any of the apps or their messages on these platforms.
Facebook has confirmed it’s experiencing networking issues but has not yet updated its estimated time of restoration.
The connectivity issues have not only affected the users of these apps, but also some Facebook employees who were unable to reach their offices. The company has its headquarters in Menlo Park and New York City.
Facebook’s own error log shows that people worldwide started having problems with this social media platform at around 11:40 AM EST yesterday afternoon, with the problems not being fixed until around roughly five minutes to eight o’clock PM EST.
When apps used by billions of people worldwide blinked out, lives were disrupted, businesses were cut off from customers and some Facebook employees were locked out of their offices.

This issue has not yet been resolved as the company is still experiencing network issues that have hampered users’ access to its services across the world throughout Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning in Asia-Pacific time zones.
The outage lasted for almost six hours before being fixed at roughly five minutes past eight o’clock PM EST yesterday evening according to Facebook’s own error log.
The outage is bringing further problems for the company that is under intense scrutiny over privacy concerns following a massive data breach impacting more than 50 million accounts earlier this year.
This issue came just two days after CEO Mark Zuckerberg was grilled by Congress regarding these issues, which have led to increased calls from lawmakers for deeper regulation of tech companies in America.
